It's Okay, I'm Young.

Isn't that phrase interesting? I was thinking about that today. I remember being in my teens and thinking "I am so young. When I am older, I'll worry about this and that, it doesn't matter right now" . And now, I am older; I am at that age where I have to start thinking about "those" things.

Slightly frightening.

So, what are those things?

-Who will I marry, and when will that be?
-What will my career be, or at least my next job?
-How will I pay that one bill this month?
-Should I invest in a new car?
-Will I ever be able to save money?
-Do I really want to go the rest of my life without a college education?
-At what age is it okay to still wear skinny jeans?

... Okay, that last one was just to make you laugh. But seriously, these are honest questions I would think of every now and again when I was in high school, but would quickly dismiss because at that time, it was not relevant. I am now 24 years old; is this the time where I need to start answering these questions?

These thoughts can become extremely overwhelming, and even at times discouraging. But, now more than ever before, I have such a strong faith that God has everything under control. It's hard to believe that in certain moments, but the great thing about being older is that my relationship with God is not just something that is convenient, or expected by my community; it's my way of living. It's the only way of living for me.

I don't know if you are in a similar place as me, but take heart, your age is simply just a number, but it's okay to start thinking about what your answers might be to these questions. But, if you don't have those answers yet, don't worry, keep pursuing God's will for your life, and He'll deliver. He always does.

Keep Fighting the Good Fight,

  1. I am in the exact situation as you. I'm 23 and I feel like I haven't done anything yet. I feel like I'm just getting older and older and not accomplishing anything. Then I remind myself, I'm only 23 and I have the whole rest of my life ahead of me. =]

  2. I am glad that there are others out there like me! Yay for not being alone :)

Keep thinking about the things you love, and remember, finding out the things you don't love to do are just as important :)
