Updates! (Ft. New Song & Creative Challenge Update)

Happy Tuesday, everyone! The sun is out and it's 5:45, how can I complain?

I wanted to post just a general update on this last week, which includes two creative challenge updates! My goodness, I am so slow at this challenge, but I am committed! I will get to 30, even if it takes me a decade.

This was technically from the previous week,
but my friend Nicole had a Mustache Party
so we got ourselves some adhesive mustaches
and of course had a blast with the photobooth.

These are some of my favorites from LiNK (the organization I worked for).
I went to visit them at the office and we all went out to lunch.
They are the best :)

My church, Rock Harbor Fullerton, just celebrated our 2nd Birthday!
We all gathered at CSUF at the Titan Student Union,
where we had free bowling, music, Chick-Fil-A and even a photobooth.
It was such a great time to celebrate all that God has been doing within our church
and also to just have a good time with community.
This is my good friend, Chris holding 40 balloons.
We had to fit these in my car.
Let's just say it was a challenge, but we only popped one!

On Sunday, I spent the day in LA with some of my lovely girlfriends: Becky, Alex, Denise & Christie. We went to Intellegentsia Coffee Shop (I got the Herbal Tea 333 - I highly recommend it!).

...& now on to the creative challenge updates!

Day 20
I was feeling inspired to sew (and if you know me, I am sure you're laughing right now),
and I've started to fall in love with the look of big bows on shirts.
So, I thought instead of buying one, why don't I make my own and just pin it on a shirt?
Here is the final product of my first attempt at making my own big, beautiful bow.
(She is definitely in need of some extra work, haha)

Day 21
I've mentioned in previous posts that I have been working on writing a new song.
Well, it's all finished (kind of).
I still plan on making it sound more full and better,
but I recorded and uploaded a rough version.
Here is the YouTube video for it! The lyrics are posted in the info section.
Let me know your thoughts!

[It's called "Ninety Days"]

Well friends, that is all for now! I hope you all have an amazing evening & rest of your week!

  1. What a fun party/get together! And cute diy project! Looks really cute:) Love the song too! I could never write anything like that-I'm so musically challenged-but it's so awesome to see that the Lord's given you a gift and you're using it for Him!

    1. Thanks Kelly! I haven't always been able to play music, but at age 12 I decided I wanted to be a musician when I got older, so I started taking lessons. It's never too late! ;)

    1. Aw thank you, Kalie!! God is seriously so wonderful and unique. I originally started writing this song with different intentions and He said "nope, this is what I want you to write it about". and I couldn't be more grateful. I am glad it spoke to you!

PS- So I can't remember if I told you this, but I did not end up getting that job I had three interviews with. After going through that exhausting process, I decided I didn't want to go into an "office field" so I now want to pursue finding a Nanny job. I know you saw me post this on twitter yesterday, but I had my first Nanny interview, so we will see if I get it! But if/when I become a Nanny, I just might need your advice and help! Haha!

  5. Oh Brenda, you are so talented! Seriously, your video made me shed a tear, and Matt was in the background, walking around the house saying, "Who is that? I love that girl's voice," only to find out it was you. Then he had to come and watch the video too. Seriously, you need to make more music and play it. You are amazing! Not to mention you look so cute doing it! :)

    1. Aw, Brooke! You are so so sweet. Thank you!! It means a lot coming from you. I know that you've been following along my blogs for the last few months, seeing my honesty and vulnerability in this difficult time I've been going through - and this song, is all about that. But, it really is more about the healing of it all. So, thank you for listening, and I am so glad you liked it! (and Matt too!!)

I will definitely continue making music! I am actually playing a show tomorrow, but in Orange County. Boo. San Diego is next on my list ;)
