Seasons & Tunes

I'm quite obsessed with this band called The Head & The Heart. [Brooke, I know you will agree!] A good friend of mine introduced me to them last year, and I instantly was hooked. It was not until more recently that I have actually listened to their full album, and my only regret is that it took me this long.

I think it's incredible how when we are going through specific seasons in our lives, that music can play such a key role. For me, music is more than just a tune or a list of words put together to make a song; music is a way for me to connect and see things in a different perspective. I can't completely explain it, but I believe music is a gift from God, and with that, it brings me pure joy.

There are several go-to artists that I have been listening to for the last several months. If you have never heard of them, I highly encourage you to give them a listen.

[especially his latest self-titled album]

For now, I will leave you with an epic video by TH&TH. This song in particular has brought me a sense of unique comfort recently. A mixture of the words, the sounds and the simplicity of it all, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

  2. Wow, I feel so special- a blog shout out!

It is so funny you posted this because I am working on a winter music playlist, and have been thinking a lot about seasons lately and was journaling about this topic just this week! Must be that time of year.

I've never heard Sleeping at Last, so I'm excited for that!

Some of my other new (to me) favorites lately are Middle Brother and Of Monsters and Men. You should check them out. :)

    1. Haha, I knew I was going to feature TH&TH so I knew you'd relate :)

It's true, the winter season brings about good music and even better playlists. Will you be posting yours?

I think you will really like Sleeping At Last. For all of 2011, they put out an EP every month and put all of them together and called the album "Yearbook" - check it out, so so good. (They also have an amazing Christmas album).

I will definitely check out those artists, I've heard of them but never listened. Thanks Brooke!

  3. I really like Snow Patrol's newest album right now. And I recently heard a couple songs by the Black Keys and I quite enjoyed them.

I like this song by The Head & The Heart that you posted. And Bon Iver is pretty good. I haven't heard too much of his music but what I have I like.

    1. Hi Felicia! Thanks for the comment!

I didn't even know Snow Patrol had a new album, I'll have to give that a listen. I definitely prefer Bon Iver's latest album, but all of his stuff is worth listening to :)

  4. I've been enjoying The Head and the Heart with my friends lately. They definitely bear weight in this season of my life.
For a long time a few artists namely Joe Pug and The Low Anthem have been the vessel of pensive thought for me.

It was great meeting you and hearing of your project. It's quite encouraging to know that there are other people out there that are compelled to create! It's edifying in quite sincere solidarity.

    Cheers,
    -Aaron

    1. Aaron, it was nice meeting you too! I've never heard of Joe Pug but I have heard of The Low Anthem.

I definitely want to continue with making little projects, it seriously brings me so much joy, even if it is not up to "artistic standards", I enjoy them :)

      Take care!
